License Details for Edge Software

Every instance of AppBoard/enPortal requires a valid license file provided by Edge.  License requests are approved by the Account Manager, and the file is provided by Support.  License requests should contain the following information:

  1. the server primary IP address
  2. list of Integrations (PIMs), if any
  3. type of license (e.g. production, lab, failover)
  4. purchase order number if applicable

Using this information, Edge will generate the license.  Once the license is provided, it must be installed in the [INSTALL_HOME]\server\webapps\enportal\WEB-INF\config directory and the server must be restarted in order for it to take effect. It is possible to have multiple license files installed in the config folder, as they are cumulative.  

The system will display a warning when a temporary license is getting close to the expiration date. The license expiration warning will show up when a user logs in as a portal administrator (but will not be displayed to end-users).  The warning will display on each login beginning 6 days before the expiration time.  For example, if the license expires on July 31st, 2017, warnings will be displayed for any administrator logins on or after July 26th, 2017.

If you view the file in a text editor, you can view the parameters that have been applied to it.  Note that if the license file is edited, it will invalidate the signature key and the license will no longer work  The following diagram contains a sample license and describes all of the different settings found in a license file:
