Display Terms & Conditions Before Accessing AppBoard

For many organizations it may be required or desirable to display the Terms & Conditions for using the application that a user must accept before displaying any content.  We are able to achieve this requirement with an edit to the login.jsp file for the system login page that will display a pop-up after a successful login with the Terms & Conditions that the user must view and click "OK" on before advancing to AppBoard or enPortal.

To add this type of alert to your system, perform the following steps:

1. Locate the login page that is currently in use for your system by logging in to enPortal as administrator and going to Advanced / System Settings / System Login Page (for example, it may be: edgeLight_css3/login.jsp)
2. Navigate to the location of that page in the file system on the server (for example, [Install_Home]/server/webapps/enportal/login_pages/edgeLight_css3/login.jsp)
3. Make a backup copy of the file that is in use (login.jsp) so you can revert it in case you break anything
4. Edit the page and add the code for displaying the Terms & Conditions pop-up. See the following screenshot and attached login.jsp for examples of where the code is added to create this pop-up banner

5. Modify the Terms & Conditions language to meet the needs of your organization
6. Go to the login page in the browser (as you normally would) and confirm that the Terms & Conditions is displayed to the user

You can also have the Terms & Conditions displayed at the top of your login page for the user to read before logging in.  To have it displayed in that form, perform the following steps:

4. Edit the page and add the code for displaying the Terms & Conditions. See attached "TC_Code.txt" and also the screen shot below that shows an example of where the code was added into login.jsp
5. Modify the Terms & Conditions language to meet the needs of your organization
6. Go to the login page in the browser (as you normally would) and confirm that the T&C is displayed to the user
